Tortilla de patatas in central Barcelona
Jonathan Díaz makes it every day in the Bar APZ kitchen, at Carrer d'Estruc 32, a quiet street just behind Plaça de Catalunya.

Potato omelette
Golden on the outside and soft in the middle. Order it as a tapa, at the bar or at a table, or in a sandwich: you'll find it on the sandwich menu, next to the French omelette one. Add some patatas bravas or Ibérico ham croquetas and that's lunch sorted.

Who makes it
Jonathan makes it fresh every day
Jonathan Díaz has been cooking at APZ for more than ten years. He makes the tortilla every day, along with the tripe with chickpeas, the meatballs and the bravas, and brings it out whole to be sliced at the bar. It comes up often in reviews: a group who celebrated a birthday here called it “an incredible choice”. In 2024 El Periódico de Catalunya ran a feature on the bar.
See the pulpo a la gallega“The best Spanish omelette I've ever had, and I was lucky enough to get it straight out of the pan.”
