The Story of Bar APZ: A Family Behind the Bar Since 1988
José María Expósito started at this bar on Carrer d'Estruc in 1988 as a waiter. Today he manages it, and the bar is named after his daughters.

Where the name comes from
Alba, Paula and Zaira: the story behind the name APZ
The three letters are the initials of José's daughters. He is still out front and behind the bar, and plenty of regulars know him by name: Jose comes up again and again in the bar's reviews. He sums it up like this: an ordinary bar, the kind that feeds you well, with a neighbourhood crowd right in the centre of Barcelona.

Who cooks
Jonathan Díaz, in the kitchen
Every day Jonathan Díaz makes the tortilla de patatas, the callos with chickpeas, the meatballs and the spicy bravas, and he often sings while he cooks. The dish of the day goes up in chalk on the tapas board. Everything else is on the menu: combination plates, sandwiches and desserts such as flan or bread pudding.
