A long-standing local bar on Carrer d'Estruc, a 2-minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya, with the tapas chalked up on the board and neighbourhood prices right in the centre.

Home cooking, no frills, at neighbourhood prices
At APZ the tapas are chalked up on the board: spicy patatas bravas, fried squid, Iberian ham croquettes and garlic prawns that come out sizzling hot. José runs the dining room and treats every guest like a regular; Jonathan cooks behind the bar and also makes the tripe with chickpeas and the homemade meatballs. Some of our customers have been coming back for more than 15 years.

Yes, you can book. The bar fills up at lunchtime, but there is almost always room without a booking; for groups, it is best to call ahead.
Yes, there is a daily set menu with home-cooked dishes such as tripe with chickpeas. The menu changes; if you are after paella, ask when you arrive whether it is on that day.
