Where to eat cheap in central Barcelona
Bar APZ is a family-run bar on Carrer d'Estruc, just behind the square, serving combination plates, home-made tapas and sandwiches at neighbourhood prices.

Home cooking
A family bar since 1988
José Expósito started at APZ as a waiter in 1988 and now runs the bar, with Jonathan Díaz in the kitchen. What comes out is proper local bar food: Spanish omelette, tripe with chickpeas, meatballs and spicy patatas bravas, plus combination plates that make a full lunch. Reviews keep saying the same thing: generous portions and good prices.
